My name is Kaila François, proudly of Haitian origin. Since childhood, the arts have held a central place in my life. From the age of 5 until 17, I studied at the F.A.C.E. art school, a place that nurtured and strengthened my passion for creation in all its forms. The year 2020, marked by uncertainty, reawakened in me an urgent need for self-expression. I found refuge again in drawing and painting, mediums that allow me not only to escape but also to give form to the vibrant universe taking shape in my mind. Painting, for me, is about vibrating.

My work frequently highlights Black women, but my intention goes far beyond that: I seek to represent visible minorities and my Haitian origins through rich, colorful, majestic scenes, somewhere between the real and the imaginary.

I love to play with contrasts: patterns and realism, textures and collage effects. I refuse to confine myself to a single style. Exploration is at the heart of my approach. Through my works, I celebrate cultures, I manipulate textures, and above all, I dare to use unexpected color palettes.

Because even if the world may sometimes seem black and white... I want to put color into it.
